Pastor Douglas E. Thornton was baptized in Jesus name and received the Holy Spirit in 1990 at the Apostolic Church of God (ACOG) under the leadership of Bishop Arthur M. Brazier. At ACOG, Elder Thornton served as a Sunday School teacher for the youth. Following his passion to learn more about the word of God, he began taking classes at Moody Bible Institute.

In 1999, Pastor Thornton transferred his membership to Pullman Presbyterian Church where he served in the Christian Education Ministry and was the Director of the Men's Ministry. While serving at Pullman, he enrolled in McCormick Theological Seminary.

Under the direction of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Thornton joined Victory Apostolic Church in December 2002.   He has served as the Director of ABBA Father, a mentoring ministry for young boys, and as Director of Teacher Training. Pastor Thornton now has pastoral oversight responsibility for the Congregational Ministries. In this capacity he serves as the Director of the Ministerial Alliance which is comprised of over 65 ministers. As the Director of the Congregational groups, he is responsible for the ushers, security, hospitality, coat room ministry, medical staff, the altar / baptismal ministry, television prayer line, Communion ministry, prison ministry and the Prayer and Praise ministry.

Educationally, Pastor Thornton holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Roosevelt University and Masters of Arts in Theology from McCormick Theological Seminary. He also holds a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from DePaul University. He was licensed under the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in 2006 and ordained under the Victory Association in 2008.

Pastor Thornton has been married to his wife Kelley for over 18 years and they are the proud parents of two boys, Joshua and Nathaniel.

As a minister of the Gospel, Pastor Thornton espouses the thoughts expressed by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in his sermon entitled, "The Dimensions of a Complete Life":  to first love God, be concerned for the welfare of others, and to pursue our life long goals.
