Ministerial Training & Course Descriptions:
7-week courses:

1) Sign up for classes as continuing education
2) Take the Licensing curriculum (two year program)
3) Take the Ordination curriculum (four year program, which includes the two year Licensing program)
The following competencies at various levels are required in order to receive a license or be ordained by the Victory Association:
Ministerial Services (MS)
Assist the student in clarifying their call to ministry, understanding the basics of ministry, imparting skills for congregational care and equipping the minster for with practical experience to live out their service to the body of Christ. This competency includes the Life of a Minister, Beyond Preaching, Discipleship, basics of counseling, making effective referrals, How to Pray and Ethics.
Biblical Studies (BIB)
Equip students with the historical and cultural backgrounds of both the Old and New Testament to ensure that the student is able to demonstrate a level of understanding for encouraging others towards sound doctrine and refuting those who oppose it. This competency will introduce the research methodologies for conducting sound biblical exegesis of scripture. This competency includes How to Study the Bible, Hermeneutics, OT Survey I & II, NT Survey I & II, the Synoptic Gospels, Pentateuch and the Book of Romans.
Theology (TH)
Aims to help the student in a systematic study of the major biblical doctrines for an informed interpretation (hermeneutics) so that they gain a comprehensive understanding of the major theological doctrines for stability, growth and ministry. This competency includes an introduction to the various Christian denominations, Theology I & II, and other electives.
Preaching, Teaching & Evangelism (PTE)
Aims to provide the student with techniques, skills, and practice in the principles of teaching, preaching and evangelism. This competency includes Personal Evangelism, Homiletics, Principles of Teaching and other electives.
Field Practice (FP)
Aims to provide the student with practical experience in the various disciplines of ministerial service under an experienced mentor. This competency includes Field Practice 103, 203 and 303.
Church History (CH)
To familiarize students with an understanding of God’s interaction in the historical development of the church from Pentecost to the present. Includes Church History I & II, and electives such as African American Religious Experience in America.
Administration (ADM)
To train students in basic church and ministry administrations skills and to develop planning and management tools. This competency will include financial management, human resources, volunteer management, communication skills, and administrative planning.
Church Ordinances (CO)
To train students in the sacred nature of the pastoral ministries. This competency includes the role of a licensed minister, the role of an ordained minister, pulpit etiquette, performing weddings, funerals and last rights, communion, and baptism.
Spiritual Leadership (SL)
To train students on the biblical principals of spiritual leadership—servanthood, making a positive impact on people and the organization, overcoming challenges, and the dark side of leadership.
